Oh, You Who Is Nobly Born

Oh, You Who Is Nobly Born

In the Course In Miracles, and in Buddhism, there is a clear declaration that our true identity is that of a Divine, Holy and all powerful, Spiritual, Light-filled Being.

We are not bodies with brains, minds and emotions, moving through time and space.
We are eternal children of God, of Life Eternal, of the Divine, who are simply asleep, and need only to awaken to our true heritage and remember whom we truly are.

While we sleep, we dream many dreams.
Some of them are lovely dreams, but most of them turn into nightmares, involving the need to provide safety and comfort for our physical bodies, being subjected to all sorts of sicknesses, viruses, to physical decay, death, lack of financial resources and lack of love.

Dreams, no matter how sweet they may seem at times, are still not reality.
Only when we are awakened to our true nature, can we finally live life fully.

We live in a world that teaches us and echoes all the wrong messages.
We learn that we must earn love, must strive to keep our bodies in good health, must strive for our financial survival.

We believe that only those who are fortunate or highly born need not struggle.

The Buddha once said, as quoted in the Tibetan Book of the Dead:

“Oh Nobly Born,
Oh you of glorious origins,
Remember your radiant true nature,
Remember the essence of mind.
Trust it.
Return to it.
It is your true home.”

The Course in Miracles has many lessons that focus on helping us to remember whom we truly are, returning our mind to love and remembrance of our Divine heritage, as Holy children of God.

Many of our inner struggles come from holding grievances and being unwilling to forgive those whom we believe have wronged us.
But in Buddhism, we learn that those who have wronged us were actually our hidden angels.

The Course in Miracles also says that God sends us only angels.

The idea behind this, is that our ego, our mistaken individual identity, needs to be polished like a diamond through friction.
We must rid ourselves of anger, envy and ignorance, which block reality and show us an imaginary world created in our mental and emotional bodies.

The Course asks us to say to ourselves:
“Forgiveness is the key to happiness.
I will awaken from the dream that I am mortal, fallible and full of sin, and KNOW that I am the perfect Son of God.”

The Course reminds us many times of our true identity, and it repeats this fact again and again, with the hope that we will change our minds and forget what we learned from the seemingly cruel world, about whom we truly are.

In one of the Course’s lessons, we are encouraged to say to ourselves:

“I am the holy Son of God Himself!”

Then It goes on to explain that this is actually a declaration of release from the bondage of the world.
Release from all that the world might hold as true, but is actually in error.

By declaring boldly to yourself that you are the holy child of God Himself, you do more than release yourself from the bonds of illusions, you also release the world from being the limited place you believe it to be.

We gave to the world the role of jailer of the children of God.
We believe the world to be a place where lovely creatures come to struggle and to die.

The children of God need NOT struggle.
If we are allowed to suffer, to get sick and finally die, it means that the world is a vicious, fearful place, full of negative energy, of dark shadows, lacking in compassion and lacking all reason to exist.

What have you done, that this should be our world?
What have you done, that this is how you see the world?

All of this is a mistake in perception.
All the nightmares that we have, arise simply from the fact that we continue to deny our own true identity.

When we deny our own Identity, we look on chaos and proclaim that it is real.
We look at a limited ego and declare it as ourselves.
And everything we look upon around us, simply reenforces what we already believe and expect to see.

Deny your own Identity, and you will NOT escape the madness which induced this weird, unnatural and ghostly thought.

Deny your own Identity, and you assail the universe alone, without a friend, a tiny particle of dust against the legions of your enemies, of endless misfortunes, of random illnesses, of vicious viruses and of death.

Deny your own Identity, and look on evil, sin and death, and watch in despair as life snatches from your fingers every scrap of hope, leaving you nothing but the wish to die.

But please remember that all this is a game we play, in which we IMAGINE that our divine Identity can be denied.

We cannot change our noble birthright by denying it.
We ARE as God created us!!!

All else is an illusion.
And in this one truth are all illusions gone.

We are forever part of everything, and our divinity is the central core of our existence, and its guarantee of our immortality.

She who can accept her true Identity, is truly saved from all illusions.
And her salvation is the gift she gives to everyone in gratitude, for we are all ONE.

You are the holy Son of God Himself!
And with this holy thought, you learn the truth about yourself, and you have freed the world.

Be glad today how very easily is hell undone.
You need but tell yourself:
“I am the holy Son of God Himself.
I cannot suffer,
I cannot be in pain,
I cannot suffer loss,
Nor can I fail to do all that salvation asks.
And in that thought is everything you look on wholly changed.”

You, who perceive yourself as weak and frail, with futile hopes and devastated dreams, born but to die, to weep and suffer pain, hear this:
“All power is given unto you in earth and Heaven!
There is nothing that you cannot do!”

You play the game of death, of being helpless, pitifully tied to dissolution in a world which shows no mercy to you.

But when you give it mercy, will its mercy shine back on you.

When the Daughter of God awakens from her sleep, she will open her holy eyes, and return again to bless the world she made.

The world began in error, but it will end in the reflection of her holiness.
And she will sleep no more and dream of death.

Then join with me today.
Your glory is the light that saves the world.
Do not withhold salvation longer.
Look about the world, and see the suffering there.
Is not your heart willing to bring your weary brothers rest?

They must await your own release.
They stay in chains till you are free.
They cannot see the mercy of the world until you find it in yourself.
They suffer pain, until you have denied its hold on you.
They die, till you accept your own eternal life.

You are the holy Son of God Himself.
Remember this, and all the world is free.
Remember this, and earth and Heaven are one.

The mystic Thomas Merton wrote:

“I suddenly saw the secret beauty of their hearts, the depths of their hearts where neither sin nor desire nor self-knowledge can reach, the core of their reality, the person that each one IS in the eyes of the Divine.
If only they could all see themselves as they really are.
If only we could see each other that way all the time.
There would be no more war, no more hatred, no more cruelty, no more greed.
I suppose the big problem would be that we would fall down and worship each other.”
—Thomas Merton

On a more personal note, I have finished booking our upcoming Kumano Kodo and the Saigoku pilgrimages in Japan.

It will be a three month long walking pilgrimage, and I am so excited I can hardly wait for the month to go by until we arrive in Japan.

The scare of the Coronavirus from China caused one of the smaller Onsen hotels that we had booked to close, and cancel our reservation.
Luckily I was able to book another Hot Springs hotel nearby instead.
The rest of the guesthouses and hotels along our pilgrimage route have not cancelled.

With blessings and light,
Tali
