Preception Versus True Vision

Yesterday evening, while cooking dinner of “Drunken Chinese Noodles”, I had a brief conversation with a friend over our basic world views.

I made the statement that I believe that the world is SAFE....

This statement, did not go over so well with his belief system.
He mentioned the shooting in the streets by gang members in his US city, the young girls forced into marriages in third world countries.... rape, violence....

It occurred to me, that it has been awhile since I tried to explain my world’s view...
I realized how inexperience I have become, since I rarely get to talk to people who holds opposing beliefs.
It is not because I do not care to share, it simply does not come up in casual conversation.

And.... I rarely get into philosophical conversations with people in daily life.
The opportunity just does not come up, when interacting with people casually, in the supermarket, gas station or the post office.

I will try to do it here, in the privacy of my writing desk, with nobody around, so if you’ll throw tomatoes at me, or your leftover pizza crust, you will only harm your own computer screen....

I believe that we live a personal reality.
That we view the world through the lenses that we put on our own “eye glasses” in our own minds.

We also attract to ourselves experiences, people and events, to reenforce our beliefs.

All experiences in our life, we have attracted to us, based on our level of understanding, and experiences we WANTED to have in our lives. (on some level, we wanted to explore this subject, for whatever it is worth)

To phrase it differently, and to go deeper into the subject, we have to examine the question: “What is the world?”

The world we perceive, is a reflection of the WISHES and IDEAS we hold in our minds.

The world is a mirror of our own frame of reference.

We first look INSIDE and DECIDE what it is we WANT to see, and then we PROJECT it outwards, making it “THE TRUTH,” as we see it.

We make things “REAL” by our interpretations of what it is we are seeing.

IF, we are using projection and perception, to justify our own lack of love, our own aggression, fears, doubts, confusion, anger, lack of security, direction, sense of loss, we will see a world of malice, evil, destruction, envy and despair.

We are actually distorting the world by our twisted defenses, and therefore, seeing what is not there, only our projections.

Perception is a function of the body.
We see through the body’s eyes and we translate our experiences through the narrow sight of the body.

Our bodies may seem separated and independent.
They are actually string puppets of our minds.

If the mind wants to use the body for attack, to see harm and separation, it will become prey to sickness, age and decay.

If you allow the body to be use for its real purpose, it will become a useful tool for communicating with others.
It will be invulnerable for as long as it is needed.
It will only lay aside when its usefulness if done.

By its nature, perception is limited.
We can also “Perceive” through imagination, through empathy and sympathy that we gather, when we hear stories about somebody’s life’s stories and through distant whispers we hear about the cruelty the experience in their lives.

It is useless to try to guess the stories of perception, and the many layers of reality, operating in another’s life.
It is best to figure our own patterns and focus on refining our own belief system, so it can serve us better.

Our own job, is to change the automatic, inherent pattern of LOOK INSIDE- DECIDE WHAT IT IS YOU WANT TO SEE- PROJECT IT- PERCEIVE IT- BELIEVE IT, into true vision.
